Bishop O'Connell volleyball gets its revenge, five years later, beating Holy Cross for WCAC crown

The last time Bishop O'Connell played in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference volleyball final, it lost in five sets to Holy Cross.  Though it was five years ago, that match still stung O'Connell Coach Mehdi El Alaoui as the Knights prepared for Saturday's matchup against Holy Cross again.

 

"[In] 2016 they took it from us," El Alaoui said.  "I've had this emotion since 2016, and I wanted it so bad."

 

This time, O'Connell swept Holy Cross, 25-23, 25-20, 25-19, to capture its first WCAC title since 1995 and turn heartbreak into happiness for its coach.
