St. John’s beats Paul VI in penalty kicks to claim the WCAC girls’ soccer championship

When Allison Diaz took over as the coach of the St. John's girls' soccer team at the beginning of this season, she stressed the importance of not just winning games, but winning in a particular style. 

On Sunday evening, Diaz's emphasis on high pressure and attacking-minded possession was on full display, as St. John's (14-1-1) dictated play for long stretches in the WCAC championship against Paul VI the Maryland SoccerPlex. 

But despite ample opportunities to win in regulation, including a 2-0 lead in the second half, it took penalty kicks for the Cadets to finally prevail over last year's champion.
