Girls Lacrosse: Good Counsel Wins the WCAC Championship Over Holy Cross

A few minutes after the Good Counsel girls' lacrosse team retrieved the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship trophy it so badly wanted, sophomore Taylor McDaniels began to tell the story of a photo that foretold how the Falcons beat Holy Cross, 9-8, on Monday night in College Park.

Three years ago, McDaniels tried out for the Brine National Lacrosse Classic and first met future teammate Caitlyn Gunn. The two immediately clicked. So with the event over, Gunn approached McDaniels with a request: "Can we take a picture? We're going to be GC buddies."

"And ever since then," McDaniels said Monday, "we've been best friends."

The two made good on that promise, providing No. 2 Good Counsel (19-2) just enough breathing room to pull off its 10th league championship under Coach Michael Haight and tie a school record for wins.
