Seton Wins 11th Straight WCAC Track Title; Good Counsel Boy's Repeat As Champions

Elizabeth Seton senior Lauren Morgan entered Saturday's Washington Catholic Athletic Conference track and field championships with her school's streak of 10 consecutive titles, and her own streak of winning every 100- and 200-meter race she competed in, on the line.

In the 100, her first final of the day at Good Counsel in Olney, Morgan and Kelisa Cain of St. Mary's Ryken ran stride for stride from the starting gun. The finish was too close to call until the automated result flashed on the screen.

"I thought I lost. I was shaking," said Morgan, who edged Cain by one thousandth of a second to win in 11.936 seconds. "I was like, 'Oh man, I ruined the streak and I didn't get enough points for my team.' When I heard I won, I was really excited and really relieved, and when I found out I got the [meet] record, I was really happy."
