St. Mary's Ryken rolled through the regular season and the playoffs looking to make it three WCAC Softball Championships in a row.
However, it was Bishop O'Connell (13-3 in the regular season) who came out on top in the second day of the Championship Game. Yes, that is correct. The teams could not determine a Champion in the first day, which ended tied after 18 innings because of darkness.
In the Top of the 19th inning, O'Connell Senior Olivia Giaquinto hit a grand slam home run to put the Knights (of O'Connell) up for good.
