Alex Trippi, stingy defense lead No. 3 Bullis to win over No. 2 Gonzaga

Alex Trippi stutter-stepped past one defender, ducked by another, then found himself all alone in front of Gonzaga goalie Connar Mulcahy

Trippi waited a few beats, slowing down his stride before shoveling a shot past Mulcahy with 34.6 seconds left in the fourth quarter in Potomac. The goal punctuated No. 3 Bullis's 7-3 win over No. 2 Gonzaga, which was a product of Trippi's patient offense and the Bulldogs' airtight defense.

Bullis goalie Chris Del Rosario anchored that defensive effort with 11 saves. Trippi, a senior committed to North Carolina, notched a game-high four points with two goals and two assists. The Eagles tried to limit his touches and chances, but Trippi still quarterbacked a balanced offense as Bullis (4-0) earned its first win over Gonzaga since 2010.
