Just after 7 p.m. Monday evening, as the sun dipped behind the trees at Northwest Golf Course in Silver Spring, three Gonzaga golfers had the course to themselves.
By then, the team totals had been tallied: The Eagles had won their eighth Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship in the last nine years by a wide margin, recording a total of 372 strokes. All that was left to decide was the tournament's individual champion, and, surprise, he was going to be from Gonzaga.
