Paul VI’s baseball team has something to prove

Timmy Newell had seen this before, from the look in his Paul VI teammates' eyes to the Panthers' vanishing lead in the seventh inning of their March 22 baseball game with WCAC rival Gonzaga.

Rather than wait and see how things would transpire or pass it off as a trivial early-season game, the Paul VI senior rounded up his teammates to remind them just who they were.

"I could tell the guys were thinking this was the first time we faced adversity this season and wondering how we would respond," Newell said. "I'm one of the more emotional leaders and I think it rubs off, so I told them that this is our test and while maybe last year we couldn't have withstood something like that, this is our time to show why this year's team is different."
