The competition was much closer on the girls’ side. After the teams were deadlocked at 111 with six events to go, St. John’s (177) fought off Elizabeth Seton (163) to win its sixth straight WCAC title. The Cadets set meet records in the 4x400 (3:48.55) and the 4x800 (9:20.78).

St. John’s junior Cymia Yourish was the female track athlete of the meet; she broke the meet record she set last year with a 54.18 in the 400. Yourish also set a meet record in the 300 hurdles (43.27) and was part of the 4x400 relay team.

The relay squad beat Seton’s by 0.13 seconds; both times sit in the nation’s top 50. The Roadrunners had six first-place finishes, but that wasn’t enough to end the St. John’s streak.
