Good Counsel captures WCAC boys' soccer title, ending 33-year drought

When Tommy Myers was choosing where to play high school soccer in 2018, he toured the perennial Washington Catholic Athletic Conference contenders, including Gonzaga and St. John's.  But when he visited Good Counsel in Olney, he felt a connection with the coaches and players.  He believed if he went elsewhere, he would have missed out on the Falcons' resurgence.

 

Good Counsel struggled in Myers' freshman season, but as the Falcons improved, Myers' senior season became championship or bust.  On Saturday afternoon, that vision from three years ago became a reality when Good Counsel beat Bishop McNamara, 1-0, in the WCAC championship at Paul VI High in Chantilly.  It was the Falcons' first league title since 1988.
