Can Junior Tyler Mercier lead DeMatha to another WCAC Capital Conference Ice Hockey Championship?

The WCAC Boys Ice Hockey regular season has been a very interesting one to say the least.

If the Capital Conference Semifinal Games were any indication of what is in store for the Championship Game, then WCAC Hockey Fans are in for a real treat.

DeMatha defeated top seed Bishop O'Connell on Tuesday at MedStar Complex by the score of 4-0.  Then after finishing first, St. John's was narrowly defeated by a hungry Gonzaga Eagles team, 4-3.

In the Metro Conference, Bishop Ireton soundly defeated St. Mary's Ryken 6-2 to earn their spot in their first WCAC Boys Championship Ice Hockey Game.  Ryken and Ireton had split in two matchups this year.

Good Counsel continued its strong play against WCAC competition with a 6-0 win over Paul VI Catholic.

The Metro Conference Championship (Ireton vs Good Counsel) will begin at 4:45pm on the Patrick Rink at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel on Friday, February 14th.

The Capital Conference Championship (DeMatha vs Gonzaga) will follow (at 6:45pm) on the Patrick Rink as well on Friday, February 14th.

Tickets are $10 at the door (CASH ONLY) or can be purchased on line at www.gofan.co (search WCAC).  With the purchase of a ticket you will be able to see all three games (Girls Championship is at 4:00pm on the Logsdon Rink on Friday, February 14th).
