DeMatha Catholic High School seeks a Head Boys Basketball Coach committed to educating students in the Trinitarian tradition.

A Trinitarian education emphasizes relationship-building at the heart of all teaching; emphasizes the wise use of freedom; demands a commitment to justice; and is practiced with humility. Trinitarian educators are servant-leaders.

The head basketball coach is responsible for the entire program (varsity, junior varsity, and freshman) and for summer basketball camp. The successful candidate will, ideally, be able to teach in the school, or, as a secondary possibility, be able to work in a different capacity in the school. The head coach develops character, sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline in addition to helping players maximize their ability to play at the highest level they can achieve. The head coach works closely with the Athletic Director to create the schedule and arrange for use of the facilities and management of the budget. He or she models good sportsmanship, adheres to out-of-season workout rules, as well as all applicable school or Washington Catholic Athletic Conference rules. Bachelor's degree required.

While the applicant need not have prior head coaching experience or experience in high school, he or she will need to demonstrate an understanding of child development. The head coach should communicate a vision for the program that is fully in line with the school's mission.

The position demands excellent communication skills as the head coach is a visible "face of the school."
