DeMatha recruit Josh Wallace chose a big stage over a bigger offensive role. It’s working.

There was a Penn State commitment burying jump shots for Gonzaga, one after another, in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship game Monday. There was a high-major recruit for DeMatha answering with long makes of his own. There was another high-major recruit for Gonzaga, this one only a sophomore, tossing in odd-angle layups. There was another sophomore star, this one playing for DeMatha, doing the same and flexing his muscles toward the crowd.

And there was Josh Wallace, a junior guard for DeMatha, pressing up on defense, driving into small slivers of space, coming off the bench but exactly where he always wanted to be: right in the middle of it all.
