Paul VI guard Jeremy Roach dribbled in transition and saw his O'Connell defender giving him space, expecting Roach to drive to the basket.

Down three with less than three minutes left in Friday night's game, Roach calmly picked up his dribble, planted his feet and shot from the top of the arc.

The three-pointer swished through the net, tying the game. Soon after, the sophomore sank an off-balance three and guard Anthony Harris added a pair of key free throws to lift No. 1 Paul VI to a 59-54 win at No. 11 O'Connell.

"Coach kept telling me to shoot," Roach said. "So I was like, 'Okay.' "
