Hoover dominated Pinson Valley on a sun-splashed Saturday in its season opener.

Things were much different today against St. John's College High (D.C.), as the Cadets ran away with a 42-14 victory over the Bucs at Hoover's on-campus stadium after Friday's game at the nearby Hoover Met was postponed by lightning.

"We got outplayed, I got outcoached and we got outclassed on everything you could be," Hoover coach Josh Niblet said. "We had some opportunities in the first half but mistakes kept us from flipping the momentum. We couldn't get off the field on third down and we gave up too many big plays. Bottom line is they outplayed us today. We had to play really well, and they had to make a few mistakes themselves. But it was a good matchup coming into the game."
