St. John’s beats Gonzaga, 30-7, to win the WCAC football championship

St. John's Coach Joe Casamento told his football team maybe too many times that "it's about us," a mantra that was on the verge of becoming stale until the Cadets won their first Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship Saturday. 

For years, the WCAC has revolved around St. John's and the money it has poured into its athletic department. Under Armour founder and St. John's graduate Kevin Plank donated $16 million to the school in 2015. Since then, the Cadets have played a game of "will they or won't they?" with the conference title game. 

Finally, they have, in a dominant 30-7 win against rival Gonzaga on Saturday at Maryland Stadium in College Park.
